Nice tut Smango, although not up to your usual standard 
Very basic, and not entirley orb like. I would suggest grabbing your line tool, draw a line following the contours of the orb about 10pixels up, and gaussian blurring it, reducing the opacity slightly. I think you could also duplicate the white layer once or twice, deleting the original and blurring one, setting the other to screen or similar.
