Hey RHC here,
I looked at Rozer's guide to basic HTML and while that it is good to know the basics, I decided add on what he covered.
Paragraphs, Line Breaks, and Horizontal Rules
The paragraph tags <p></p> is usually used to denote the breaks inbetween paragraphs.
<p>This be a paragraph</p> <p>This be another paragraph</p>
Line Breaks is the coding equivelant of hitting enter on a keyboard. It makes the code go to the next line.
Now there are different ways of writing this code
<br> is the most common used in coding.
</br> is the same thing as <br>. Most browsers will pick up on this and the code will go to the next line.
<br /> is another common way of making the content move to the next line. Unlike the others, <br /> is an empty tag line.
This is a line break.<br> This is another line break. </br> Another line break is here. <br />
A Horizontal Rule is a line added into a content of a page. It separates paragraphs with a line.
This is the tag for a horizontal rule: <hr />
<p>This is a paragraph</p>
<hr />
<p>This is another paragraph</p>
<hr />
<p>This is the final paragraph</p>
Text Formatting
To simplify what text formatting is, its the HTML version of UBBC codes such is
Bold,
Italics, etc.
Use <b></b> tags for bold text.
Use <i></i> tags for italicized text.
Use <em></em> for emphasized text.
Use <big></big> for big text.
Use <small></small> for small text.
 is for subscripted text.
 is for superscripted text.
<ins></ins> is for inserted text (it underlines the words between the tags).
<del></del> is for deleted text (it strikes through the words between the tags).
Others include:
<strong>Strong text</strong>
<dfn>Definition term</dfn>
<code>Computer code text</code>
<samp>Sample computer code text</samp>
<kbd>Keyboard text</kbd>
<var>Variable</var>
<cite>Citation</cite>
<abbr>Abbreviation</abbr>
<acronym>Acronyms</acronym>
<blockquote>Long Quotation</blockquote>
<q>Short Quotation</q>
Special Tags
<bdo></bqo> is one tags that need defining. BDO means Bidirectional Override and what you can do is specifiy the text direction and override the bidirectional algorithem. To simply you can change the text direction from left-to-right to -right-to left.
<bdo dir='rtl'>Right-to-left</bdo>
