I'm around and round we go

Work has asked me to learn Unity, since we may be using it to develop some VR stuff for clients in the near future. Also, I think it would be a nice tool to learn and have under my belt of knowledge.
I have never touched it, never seen it before, never installed it. Can anyone point me in the direction of a good beginner's guide that makes sense? Real basic info, like what the program is, what it does, etc. I am probably going to look into some paid online/school tutorials if I get really lost, but there is just a huge plethora of stuff out there except they all seem to require some basic knowledge.
If what I am looking for doesn't exist, what knowledge/terms should I be familiar with to understand some of these tuts?
(I have also never used a 3D program before so... this is going to be fun ._.)
We'll burn that bridge when we come to it.

I use it every day. I learnt mostly from experimentation over years (since Unity 3.5). Are the tutorials on the website not any good?
