Phew *breathes out*
Just finished the landing page for my new company website.
stompyrobot.co.uk/newsiteSome things I've noticed:
- Alpha on the navbar makes it hard to read on a light or busy background. Probably will make it more opaque
- Slideshow tile things will have an offset applied so they don't all change at once.
- Not happy with the dropdowns on the navbar. Any feedback here would be appreciated.
So yeah. Any thoughts?

Some kind of animation, yeah. Anybody got any examples of dropdowns done well?

The opacity on your navbar looks okay to me with the current background image, but my suggestion would be to use a solid color to avoid the issue of busy backgrounds overpowering your navigation altogether. Otherwise, give 90% a try.
As for the dropdown, an animation
might help. I like Bootstrap's; you're already using the framework, might as well use the animation? Or maybe it's just a matter of making the text lighter? tbh it looks fine to me, but if it's bugging you try something like that.
The only thing that's irking me is the aliasing on your headlines. I see it's a Google font... I would suggest downloading the original web version, or converting the desktop version using FontSquirrel.

Mostly final version here:
www.stompyrobot.ukI think all the problems with dropdowns are pretty much gone, since I replaced the main one with standard menu links. With just one dropdown it doesn't matter that much to me any more.
The font looks super-smooth to me
elli, are you using the latest Chrome? Not sure why google fonts would be fuzzy.

It seems to be fixed now. Maybe it was just something wrong with that specific font?

I don't think I changed the font stuff at all since that first version. *shrug*

Could've been something on Google's end, or maybe my browser was just rendering it weird at the time.
